Twitter recruiting post

I have been using Twitter long enough that I can give it a fair review. I don’t see myself giving up on it anytime soon.  My first foray into micro-blogging was a bust. I felt like I was just talking to myself. Now I that I have it figured out I am learning more than I’m contributing.

Rule #1 of the Twitterverse. Don’t expect to have great conversations with people. This medium is more of a place to pass along interesting information about things you see, hear, or read. My first impression was that nobody ever saw what I was writing, as I used it I realized that I was reading a heap of great content but only responding to one out of a hundred posts.

Rule #1a this one is just as important as rule #1. Follow people. Look around for people and topics that interest you. I like http://wefollow.com The site breaks users into categories and popularity. A Goggle search will also give you a lot of resources. If you follow people they will generally follow you too.

Rule #2 Give it some time. You need to take just a little time using Twitter to let the usefulness find you. Your life is probably a lot more interesting than you realize

Ugg, enough with the rules…. Let’s just call this a tip. If you are having trouble conforming to the 140 character limit signup for a free blog. You can write until your hands cramp up and then post a synopsis with a link. Lastly, take a look at a free program called Tweetdeck. It makes using Twitter fun and easy.
